July 04 Enjoy the pictures, blog to follow.... soon,... I hope... probably...Happy 4th of JULY!
Back from a great vacation. I finally got some of the pictures uploaded, and I hope to blog about the trip soon... IF I can get more than a few minutes on the computer. Sharing the computer sucks!
I hope you are all having a great summer. BIG HUGS, Steph May 24 Softball at State and GraduationThe girls did great at State. They made it all the way to the championship game, and won second place. I'm very proud of them all!
Yesterday was High School Graduation. I was holding it together pretty well, until they started showing the student's baby pictures on a big screen. I cried though almost the whole ceremony.
There were some laughs. The kids snuck in beach balls to toss back and forth during breaks of speakers, etc. One young man brought a 'blow up doll'... I tried to get her in some of my photos. I'll let you know. lol
Our neighbor boy did a back flip off of the stage. One of the teachers missed it so she had him do it again! There were funny stories, and remembrances. I'm going to cry again, so, I'll post photos later.
Now, they say it's good to be able to laugh at yourself... So, here goes.
When I was sick, and finally dragged myself into the doctors, I was really out of it. When they checked me, and saw that my heart rate was really high, and my blood pressure was through the roof, they got a little scared. My head was all stopped up and I felt so bad, I couldn't really tell. The Doctor brings in one of those masks, and tells me I have to wear it, and wants to know what I've touched in the waiting room and in the exam room... Ok, I have a very big problem with claustrophobia, but, I tried, I really did. I put on the mask, and I immediately started to panic, had to run out of the room, out of the office to the outside where I took it off. (Yes, I was a big baby)
Dr. came out and told me that I had to go to the hospital (approx) 100 yards away, and that I didn't need to go inside. He had my husband drive me that small way and they had me lay down in the shade. The nurses came outside, THEY wore the masks and did my tests outside. Take your time, and visualize... I can laugh at it now, and I appreciate that my Dr is so understanding.
Now, what have you all been up to? BIG HUGS, Steph May 12 Updates, and a movie reviewPositive on Influenza A, but negative for Swine flu! YEAH! I was quarantined for a week.
It's nice to be out and about.
Now, movie... Star Trek... a MUST see! I LOVED IT!! Karl Urban (I LOVE Karl) does a fantastic "Bones" and I like the young man who plays "Spock."
There's the whole "alternate time line" thing which is never a big favorite of mine, but, it works, and DAYUM the movie is good! Go, see and enjoy!
Now, my daughter's softball team is going to, State, again, so I'm making the good luck treats that I make for them to take every year. We are all going up to Post Falls, Idaho... it's a boring drive, but, once you get up there it's gorgeous.
She graduates from High School next week. Time is going too fast. I didn't say she could grow up...
How are you all doing? BIG HUGS, Steph April 30 Oh the fun...My life has been filled with viruses. First it was my computer. A nasty trojan. Norton couldn't remove it, so I followed the steps they gave me for manual removal... didn't work. I finally broke down and paid the 100.00 to have their technician remove it. It took 3 technicians almost 5 hours to get rid of it, so, I didn't feel too bad about not having success doing it myself.
The second virus... is inside of me. I called my Doctor earlier this week to let them know I had all the symptoms of the swine flu. Their response was, BUT, you can't say you've had contact with anyone from Mexico, Texas or California, so, you can't have swine flu, you're fine. Three days later I drag my butt into the office, and you would have thought I was going to die right then and there. They were going to hospitalize me. I've tested positive for Influenza A, and they are now testing to see if it's swine flu. Please have prayer that it's not. I guess I've given them a scare and they are actually taking me seriously. Like I would fake this? Sheesh! So, I'm quarantined to my house for 7 days, and still waiting to hear the final test results. I've been in bed since monday. I couldn't stand it any longer and I may pay for it but I'm sitting at the computer, writing to you, and watching, X-men, Orgins. I'm loving it! If you're an X-men/Wolverine fan, you're gonna love it! Heck, Hugh Jackman's body and Ryan Reynolds were reason enough for me to watch.
I am pissed about how they dealt with Ryan Reynolds character. I won't say any more. It comes out in theatres tomorrow, go, watch and enjoy! BIG HUGS, Steph
PS, Thanks and a BIG HUG, to all of you who stop by and make my day with a comment. Seth, you've been wonderful, and I appreciate it. I luvs ya all! April 10 Happy Easter!I hope you all have a wonderful Easter. Our family Easter Egg Hunt is this Saturday, tomorrow. Today I'm organizing prizes, treats and trying to remember where I put the plastic eggs.
Kat, I will post my computer surroundings, but, I'm going to be late... sorry.
While trying to organize things around here, I watched, Monsters vs Aliens. I thought it was cute and liked it. It wasn't a constant laughing funny, but it did have some funny moments.
I seem to have lost my child-like wonder/acceptance. While Susan, the character that grows to 50 ft tall, is growing that tall, all I could think of is how they could expect us to just accept that a wedding dress would stretch that big? Then when she wakes up in the monster prison, she's fully clothed in a new outfit and even has shoes on that are her size! I was side tracked wondering just how they did that.... oh well... I still enjoyed it.
Have a fantastic Easter. Much Love, and BIG HUGS, Steph March 18 I will it to be Spring!I'm so excited, the weather is getting warmer and I see tiny green buds poking through the ground! I'm buying bulbs and roots to plant, and planning where to move my blackberries (they are growing into the neighbor's yard right now). I bought some new Peonies and Day Lilies to add to my perennial collection. They're going to be gorgeous!
On the down side, I had to make a trip to Walmart. While I was shopping they made an announcement that all St. Patrick's Day items were now 75% off. I had picked up a few things on my way in, so, I went back up to the store to see if they had done a price adjustment. The management person told me, "Oh, the red tag price reflects the 75% off.... um, no, it didn't. I told her that regular price was 10.00 and they were marked 5.00... which is obviously not 75% off. She (in a snotty tone) asked me how I knew it was regularly priced 10.00... I reached over and tore off the red tag sticker and under it was the regular price of... 10.00! (Don't mess with me and bargains)
She said she would have to get a person there to change the prices... 20 minutes later, no one. Another management person comes by, I give him the run down. He again tried to persuade me that they were indeed marked 75% off.... AGAIN I show him they aren't. He leaves to confer (with probably no one) and comes back to say, that indeed most things were 75% off, but not these clothes. He then starts to take down the 75% off signs.... Being the nice guy that he is (sarcasm) he will let me and the other lady with me, have 75% off because there were signs up (and that lady who kept announcing it over the intercom). A few minutes later a department head comes up and tells me that her part of the clothing was indeed already marked 75% off.... UMMMM NO, it's NOT. She assures me that they are. I asked her, "OK what was the original price on these pants.." She says, $11.50. The pants were marked 3.50... which AGAIN is not 75% of 11.50. There were some boxers which were regular price 5.00 and she had marked them 1.75... AGAIN, not 75% off. What really made me mad was, I had to get my cell phone out and show them the math. They were not inclined to try and figure it out or take my word that they didn't know what the heck they were doing. Plus, if the clothing was only 50% off, why did she run over to say her's were already marked 75% off? HUH? HUH?
What really scares me is, these are people that Walmart hires, and they are incapable of doing simple math, even with a calculator and it being part of their job! Heaven help us all!
OK, Whew, rant over! BIG HUGS, (It's SPRING, It's SPRING!!!!) Steph February 24 Da FluI've had the flu, and it's kicked my behind! I can't remember the last time I was so sick.
In honor of the nasty lil bug that's running around wreaking havoc, I'm posting some ideas on how to get through it.
First since it involves throwing up and diarrhea, you are advised to avoid milk, milk products and fruit juices.
Even though that spicy enchilada plate sounds good.... avoid it, and any other spicy, acid type, burn on the way down and on the way out foods...
Don't plan on leaving the house any time soon, and, if you have to, you better know where each and every bathroom is between you and your destination.
Keep a bucket or garbage can near your bed, and remember the B.R.A.T. diet.
That's the diet your children's doctor recommends when they are sick. It works for adults too. It stands for Bananas, Rice, Applesauce and (dry) Toast. Most of which won't stay down for long, but, it's not as bad coming up as some other things, and is easy on the stomach.
Consider this my, "Public Service Announcement." Now, go, my friends, and may the flu bug of unhappiness never darken your door... BIG HUGS, Steph
February 18 The latest poop...I can't tell you how much it means to come here and read your comments. They keep me laughing.
We had a blessing happen to us. The other day the two neighbor boys that walk with my daughter, Lisa to school, came by to pick her up, but she was running late and told them to go on ahead. At the end of our block the boys were both hit by a car. Austin her best bud, rolled up and off of the hood. He wasn't hurt as bad as the other boy. The other boy, (he's new to the neighborhood) was pinned under the car and his legs were badly broken. The young lady who ran them over was flipping a u-ie and her windows were iced over. She didn't even see them. Thankfully both boys are doing much better, and since I don't believe in mere coincidences, I believe there was a reason that my daughter was late that morning. I'm very thankful she was.
On a lighter note, my daughter that is graduating High School this year, was nominated for Senior Girl, Best Looking, Most Athletic. She was voted, Most Athletic. Much to the dismay of one of her best friends who wanted that title. Jessica was voted, Biggest Flirt, instead... which if you know Jess, you know fits her perfectly.
My days are filled with lil man, Gauge, and he has decided that he only wants to watch Shrek movies, especially Shrek 2, and Sponge Bob Square pants. I have watched the Shrek movies so many times I know the dialog, and I just might make a Shrek trivia test to see if I can stump anyone.
What's been going on in your life? Let me know. BIG HUGS, Steph January 26 It's just what I wanted! The other day I told my husband that he didn't have to worry about what to get me for Valentines Day (which is funny because he never gets me anything any way.)
I prefaced the request with.... "It's on Ebay, is a buy it now, AND has free shipping...." Isn't it purty??? Now, the cost? ONLY.... ONLY.... a mere, measly, ..... $38,000.00!!!!
I'm encouraged by his response, and I'll let you know what he says when he can finally stop laughing.... BIG HUGS, Steph
