    Just thinking, and remembering

I've been thinking of my beloved Hawaii.
Certain songs, sounds, and smells remind me of being there.
I love the people, and the gorgeous islands.
I think it's wonderful that they teach children to sing and perform as part of school curriculum. I've been the happy recipient of "Hawaiian serenades" (Art K. you have NO idea what you did, when you sang to me.) LOL
This week I'm playing "Iz" (Israel Kamakawiwoʻole).
I'm sure most, if not all of you have heard his version of "Somewhere over the rainbow."
I adore his voice, and it's so sad that we lost him too soon. He had so much talent, but, died too young.
To me, his voice IS Hawaii... beautiful, soothing, gorgeous. BIG HUGS, Steph

    The "Steph" Blogathon...

It's been snowing all day, and doesn't show any signs of stopping... sooooo, this is a "Blogathon."
I don't have any cheesy jokes, music acts or sob story to tell.
I am however sitting by my phone waiting for you to call and donate your hard earned money to my "cause."

It's the, "Help pay for Steph's airline ticket to a warm tropical island, where she will lay on the warm sand, bask in the sun, and enjoy the sights of tanned muscular men playing in the surf, for as long as the money lasts, or she gets arrested for attacking said muscular men and having her way with them." Blogathon...

Pledge now! I accept all major credit cards. Any and all donations will entitle you to, #1, a warm feeling of doing something nice... #2, free photos of Steph having fun... #3, free photos of hot beach guys or girls (depending on which you want.)

Sheesh, what more could you ask for?

My only crime was being born poor... You know you've thought about it, maybe got busy and set it aside, but, Steph and her vacation can't wait... So why not now? You know what I think it is? I think you just forgot my number, so here it is.... 1-800-555-StephNeedsYou! LOL BIG HUGS, Steph

    Monday, Monday...

It's still very cold, and we are supposed to be getting snow every day this week.

Just so you know, that is NOT something that makes me happy.

I have created a monster... two actually. I showed my girls some web sites, on which they can watch movies and TV shows.
My time on the computer is now limited to the time they are at school, but, having Dekeon here makes it nearly impossible.

    I've been going through withdrawls!

Let's see, what else has been going on.. oh yeah.

    A lesson on drugs...

My oldest son hit rock bottom this past fall. He 'fell off the wagon' so to speak and for 2 to 3 months if he wasn't drunk he was high on drugs.
He has 2 or so months that he doesn't even remember. This is where it gets stupidly amazing... during that time he met a young lady who, talked him into buying a car and handing over the keys to her.  This was in October, and he just found out the other day that he had done this... at least we are assuming he did it. Since he can't remember. There's always the possibility of identity theft, but, he's going to check on that today.
So, shall we review? Not only did he lose several months of his life, but, ended up buying a car for a person that he doesn't even remember, and handed her the keys. That's right, he doesn't even remember her name!

I am shocked, amazed, confounded, by the fact that my son, who has a very high IQ, could do something like this...  and then have no memory of it.

He's had to move back home for awhile. The roommate who was supposed to have been taking their rent money to the landlord... has been spending it on pot and meth.

I have friends and know of people who still use pot, and it's stuff like this that makes me wanna crack some heads when they say, "OH it's just pot" or, "We just use meth, once in awhile."

On a brighter note, it means Dekeon will be here more often, and he's brought his 2 cats with him.

I'm feeding a total of 15 now. I have a cute furry lil female show up every morning for breakfast. I can't figure out where she's come from, but, she's been de-clawed (I'd love to de-claw who ever did that to her), so she sticks around and I make sure she gets fed.

I hope you are all staying warm, and have a great week. (Thanks for letting me vent.) BIG HUGS, Steph

    I can't wait for spring!

Between the cold, snow, and babysitting my 3 yr old Grandson most of the week, I have a huge, full blown case of "Cabin Fever."

I spend most of my day trying to keep up with Dekeon. Just when I think I've gotten through to him, he does exactly what I had been telling him not to!
It may be my imagination, (or me getting old) but he seems to have a lot more energy and get into a lot more trouble than my guys when they were 3.

You should see my fish tank. Every night I clean crud and toys out of it that he insists on throwing in, as soon as no one is looking.
I think the turtle is permanently traumatized!
The cats hide all day, and come out at night when he's asleep.

I can't tell you how much I admire some of my blogging friends, and friends from real life, who have a bunch of young children to deal with. Example, Jess, she has 5 daughters and is preggers with a 6th baby... a little boy, who's gonna be spoiled rotten. lol
Or, Leah, she's a single Mom with 2 little ones. She's doing it on her own, with no breaks!
They are both strong special Women that I admire.

I look at him sleeping during the night, so peaceful and sweet. I wonder how some one so small can cause so much damage and destruction... then I fall asleep as soon as my head hits the pillow.

    I can't wait for Spring!

I hope you are all doing well.

I have snow and single digit highs that I can send your way... just holler! BIG HUGS, Steph

    My you look yummy...

I've been watching a lot of movies lately.

Some have been good, others a huge disappointment.  Either way, I do find myself wondering about certain aspects of them.

The people who make movies must not have a very high opinion of people in general. Example... horror movies...

Why is it they are always full of really stupid people?
Let's see, there is some thing or some one who's killing anything and everything that moves... I hear a blood curdling scream and what does the person do??? Well run right to where the scream is of course! (Idiots)
There's a monster living under the city... I drop my keys or wallet down the sewer... so what do I do? In the movie they have you go down and get them... (idiots!)

I have noticed that most writers of horror-sci/fi movies seem to think that in the very near future we will be exposed to some kind of chemical/bacteria or medicine that will change the majority of the world's population into mindless zombie-like creatures... OH and they will hunt and eat the flesh of those few who are naturally immune.
What??? It wasn't bad enough that man be wiped out and become mindless monsters, but, we have to become human flesh eaters/blood drinkers too?
(I Am Legend, 28 Days Later, 28 Weeks Later, Resident Evil Movies)
Then just when they get a hold or control on what ever it is mutating everyone, they have to save that one last infected person or that last vial, which will of course get loose and start the whole thing all over again. (Sigh)

I really liked, I am legend, even if it did make me cry. I have to wonder though, how many apartments in New York have steel reinforced doors to enclose the occupant, and a kick ass fully equipped lab underground? I mean really, how lucky for him and what a really cool coincidence!? LOL

OK, I admit it, I like when I can enjoy a movie and still have things to pick at.

On that note I'll leave with this final observation. I'm not a fan of Rambo films,(nor have I ever been a Stallone fan. I don't appreciate an old man who dates women younger than his own children.) but I have seen them. I'm always amazed at how all the other characters are wearing uniforms or clothes, and yet Rambo is always shirtless... even when it would be to a huge advantage to have a shirt on. So, I notice that a new Rambo movie is coming out. Stallone is getting too old to be going shirtless, I'm thinking he's got a hook on his ammo belt for his teeth, so, as a movie watcher I'm hoping they spare me a couple of hours of his sagging pec's.
A shirt, Rambo... get one! Please!

    BIG HUGS, Steph

Movies I liked, I Am Legend, The Water Horse, PS I Love You, National Treasure, Book of Secrets,
Stargate, The Ark of Truth, and an older one my girls wanted me to watch, John Tucker Must Die.

Movies that disappointed, The Golden Compass, Sweeney Todd, The Bucket List, and although it has some cute moments, Alvin and the Chipmunks.

    Storms, and little boys

We've had some really rough storms this weekend/week. Winds of up to 85 miles per hour, with power outages and trees blown down. I'm thankful that we are all safe.
Yesterday was rain, today, more snow... I'll take the rain, thank you very much!

My girls love the snow. I'm OK with it, unless I have to drive in it.

I've found the cats aren't too fond of it either. Out of the 12 I feed. Only 1 likes being outside in the winter. Most of the others go outside during the day, but come nightfall, I have them all waiting at the door.
Sleeping with 6 or more cats on the bed is an interesting experience. They seem to all have a small portion of my bed that's their area, and the others aren't allowed to cross that imaginary line.
One night I dreamed I was Gulliver all pinned down by the little people.... lol

The other night I worked the concession stand at the high school. Parents volunteer to run it while the games are going. It's fun and you get to see what your child is like around his/her peers.

There was a little boy, 4yrs old, red haired, who had been hanging around for awhile. I asked if he was lost. He told me he was looking for his Dad.
He didn't seem to be concerned at all, just that he was looking for his Dad.
He could answer all my questions as to his full name, his Dad's name, how old he was, etc.
He eventually found his way into the concession stand, and I decided to take him to find his Dad.
We got to the entrance of the gym and a boy of 12 or so, says, "OH I know who he is!"
He knew where the boy's Dad was too. So, off they went.

I went back to making popcorn...

About 20 minutes later, I look out the window and who do I see? Lil Mr. Christian, back again. His father had given him a Dr. Pepper and he wanted me to see it. He then makes his way into the booth and tells me that he's going to "help me."

I told him that if he was my lil boy, he would be in big trouble. That his Mom was probably really worried about where he was.
"My Mom's not here." (Ahhhh that explains a lot!)

I told him that he needed to go back to the gym and sit with his Dad. "I don't need to!"
"Yes, you do!" "No, I don't."  "I'm gonna help you." (Oh joy)

Part of me is thinking that this boy is a mother's nightmare. I could have easily kidnapped him.
The other part of me is thinking, gone are the days of my kids wanting to actually help do work, or housework.

Maybe I should invest in a popcorn machine?

(Sigh) It's snowing again. I guess I better get going. I have to drive to Boise, and it's gonna be a looong day. BIG HUGS, Steph
