Torture, sheeeer torture!

Satan himself couldn't have thought of a better way to torture me... We are broke, really, really broke, as in no jobs, and in my email I get an announcement that says the price to fly from Portland, Oregon to Maui is 140.00 some dollars... ARRRRGGGG! OK, OK I might just being a little overly dramatic, but... I wonder how many cans I would need to collect?.... BIG HUGS, Steph

Come on SPRING!!!!!!!!

Just when I think spring is around the corner... it snows! Dang weather. When I was a young'un I used to enjoy the snow. One of our favorite things to do was to drive to Starr Island (yes my friends lived on and owned an island in the middle of the snake river) It was a huge area that is farmed, so lots of flat fields. We hooked an upside down car hood onto the back of one of their trucks with ropes and then some one would drive and the rest of us would try hanging on and surfing or "hooding" as we called it, on the snow covered fields. Yeah it is kind of surprising that none of us got hurt.
What are some fun things you've done? Oh, and if you have any pull with Mother Nature, tell her that Steph in Idaho is really, really ready for Spring! BIG HUGS, Steph

The Economy is so bad that...

The economy is so bad that ...

... I got a pre-declined credit card in the mail.

... I ordered a burger at McDonald's & the kid behind the counter asked,
"Can you afford fries with that?"

... CEOs are now playing miniature golf.

... if the bank returns a check marked "Insufficient Funds," you call them & ask if they meant you or them.

... Hot Wheels & Matchbox stocks are trading higher than GM.

... parents in Beverly Hills fired their nannies & learned their children's names.

... a truckload of Americans was caught sneaking into Mexico .

... Dick Cheney took his stockbroker hunting.

... Motel Six won't leave the light on anymore.

... the Mafia is laying off judges.

 ... Exxon-Mobil laid off 25 Congressmen.

I was so depressed last night thinking about the economy, wars, jobs, my savings, Social Security, retirement funds, etc., I called the Suicide Lifeline. I got a call center in Pakistan & when I told them I was suicidal, they got all excited & asked if I could drive a truck.

"After a certain age, if you don't wake up aching somewhere....you may be dead."

Come on, ya gotta laugh about it! BIG HUGS, Steph

MERRY CHRISTMAS

Merry Christmas!
I hope you all have a wonderful Christmas, and a very happy, but safe, New Year.

Things have been hectic, but, much better. We have the lil guy back in our lives! God really does answer prayers, just not always on our schedule. Looking back it's HIS way that's best.

I love all of you, and really enjoy when you stop by to see me. Sorry there hasn't been much to see. I've happily been keeping up with a very busy 3 year old, helping with a community kitchen that feeds those who need a hot meal, community gift drive and a Library Open House/Auction.

My oldest son is still looking for work. Younger son is cooking at The Cheesecake Factory (YUM), and being a loving Dad.
My daughter Alaura is home on Christmas break. She's been doing fantastic at college, and loving the freedom that comes with being on your own.
My Lisa is in 9th grade this year, and always on the honor roll (she's keeping up with her older sister).
She's an Anime fanatic and has some good friends with slightly twisted sense of humor... gee wonder where she gets that from? lol
One of them, Christopher, noticed and was quick to point out that "Edward" in New Moon, has two different size of nipples, and that the men in the movie all have "butt chins."  Throughout the whole movie they (including my daughter) could be heard whispering, "look another butt chin..." Ah goofy youth.
I'm proud of and love my children, and grandchildren more than I can ever say.

What have you all been up to? MERRY CHRISTMAS! BIG HUGS, Steph

How To Stay Young

My Ebay stuff did GREAT! Whoooo hooooo! BIG HUGS, and I hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving Holiday with those you love and who love you. Steph

GOOD ADVICE!

We all need to read this one over and over until it becomes part of who we are!

HOW TO STAY YOUNG

1.  Try everything twice. On one woman's tombstone she said she wanted this epitaph: "Tried everything twice...loved it both times!"

2.  Keep only cheerful friends. The grouches pull you down. (Keep this in mind if you are one of those grouches!)
cid:2.241805905@web53410.mail.re2.yahoo.com3. Keep learning:   Learn more about the computer, crafts, gardening, whatever.   Never let the brain get idle.  'An idle mind is the devil's workshop.'   And the devil's name is Alzheimer's!

4. Enjoy the simple things.
cid:3.241805905@web53410.mail.re2.yahoo.com5. Laugh often, long and loud.. Laugh until you gasp for breath.   And if you have a friend who makes you laugh,   spend lots and lots of time with HIM/HER.
cid:4.241805905@web53410.mail.re2.yahoo.com

6. The tears happen:
Endure, grieve, and move on.    The only person who is with us our entire life, is ourselves.   LIVE while you are alive.

7.. Surround yourself with what you love: Whether it's family, pets, keepsakes, music, plants, hobbies, whatever.   Your home is your refuge.
cid:5.241805905@web53410.mail.re2yahoo.com
8. Cherish your health: If it is good, preserve it..   If it is unstable, improve it..   If it is beyond what you can improve, get help.

9. Don't take guilt trips.
Take a trip to the mall, even to the next county,   to a foreign country, but NOT to where the guilt is.
cid:6.241805905@web53410.mail.re2.yahoo.com10. Tell the people you love that you love them, at every opportunity.   I love you, my special friend.

cid:7.241805905@web53410.mail.re2.yahoo.com

11. Forgive now those who made you cry.. You might not get a second chance.

Remember! Lost time can never be found...

Be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.

Thank you sir I'll have another...

They say that God never gives you more than you can handle, or He loves you and gives you trials so you can grow... Then there's the 'ol, "What doesn't kill you makes you stronger."

All I can say is.... God must really, REALLY love me!
That and I think instead of getting stronger, right now I'd prefer that it kill me!

Getting old does have it's advantages!

Awhile ago our Garmin GPS disappeared from my youngest son's car. (I tell him to lock it and he always forgets.) We looked all over the place and asked any one who might know.

I reported it to Garmin as stolen.

I then told all the neighbor kids and friends of my kids that Garmin now knew it was stolen and as soon as it was used they would track it and find out who had it.... OK, OK, so that's not really the truth, but, hey, I need that GPS!

Happy ending, it mysteriously reappeared on the car seat of my Maxima! So, moral of the story... some times it helps to be older and trickier!

Thanks

I just want to tell you all, Thank You, for the kind thoughts and support. We are taking things one day at a time here. I miss that lil guy so much.

Last weekend we drove to Walla Walla to watch our daughter play softball. She's doing really well at college, and was the only freshman that the coach had play on the sophomore's team! It was a nice honor, but, and I may be just a bit prejudiced, but, I think it was well deserved! She was awesome and her team won their game.
Allie our Golden, says, HI! Then there are the last roses of the season. They are always huge and I'm going to miss their beauty.

On a different note. We know some people who have a vineyard. This year they weren't happy with the quality of the grapes, so they didn't harvest them, but instead offered them to some of us who would come and pick them. I had a great time, except for the bugs! There were spiders, and earwigs, etc. The worst was the wasps. I have never in my life been stung by a hornet or wasp... until now. I was stung twice. My hand swelled to the size of a Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade balloon... oh the FUN! I do however now have some really delicious grape juice canned for the winter months. I have white grapes growing in my backyard, that's the juice on the left, (then on the right). I'm not a huge fan of grape jelly, so I juice them.

Twiglett says, Hi... well actually she was telling me to quit interrupting her nap!

What have you all been up to? I miss and love you all. I'm going to try and be better about being on here and visiting our blog family. BIG HUGS, Steph

Now I understand how people can die from a broken heart

My grandson Gauge has been a daily part of my life and I have been a daily part of his life for over a year and a half now. Since my son and his mother broke up and she's been working he's been living with us, and she would see him about 3 or 4 hours a week.
The other day she came and picked him up, told me they were going to go visit his other grandfather. What she did instead was to sneak out of town and move back to california.
I didn't get to say goodbye to him, or give him hugs. He's going to think I've abandoned him. I love him so much and we have a special bond.
I now understand how people can die, or want to die from a broken heart.
I don't know where she is. She won't answer her phone. I can't remember when some one has hurt me so much. BIG HUGS, Steph
